Mercury Retrograde Ritual Set: Relief from Retrograde Troubles

This ritual evokes and draws upon additional help of Mercurial energy, which causes an energetic reversal of Mercury Retrograde. Doing so lessens (or completely eliminates) common Mercury Retrograde troubles, such as miscommunication, technical problems, and travel delays. In addition to this ritual set, you will need:

• Fireproof ritual surface, such as a stone or metal tray.
• Matches/lighter
• 4"x4" square paper
• Pen

Below you will find three different Mercury Retrograde protocols, ranging from obtaining baseline relief (Protocol 1) to comprehensive relief (Protocol 3). Depending on the severity of how Mercury Retrograde impacts you, you may choose one of three ritual protocols. Alternatively, you may try all three protocols throughout the year. Doing so will give you measurable and comparative results so that you may plan accordingly for the following year. You may find that you only need to perform this ritual once to keep Mercury Retrograde maladies at bay. Alternatively, you may find your communication and technical or legal skills improve to such an extent that you choose to perform this ritual on a regular basis.

Protocol 1: Perform the Mercury Retrograde Relief Ritual once during the pre-shadow phase of Mercury Retrograde.

Protocol 2:

• Perform the ritual on the first day of Mercury Retrograde. 
• Repeat the Mercury Retrograde Relief Ritual every seven days.
• If a significant event is on the horizon during Mercury Retrograde (such as a court hearing, job interview, or international travel), perform the Mercury Retrograde ritual the day before, plus on the day of the event.

Protocol 3:

• Perform the Mercury Retrograde Relief Ritual once during the pre-shadow phase of Mercury Retrograde, preferably three days before the planet fully retrogrades.
• Perform the Mercury Retrograde Relief Ritual on the first day of Mercury Retrograde.
• Repeat the ritual seven days after the retrograde has begun.
• If Mercury Retrograde issues persist, continue repeating the ritual every seven days until the planet is no longer in retrograde.

Center yourself and take a few deep breaths.

Remember, you are not 'getting rid' of anything. This is not a banishment, it's quite the opposite. This ritual evokes the energies of Mercury. You are working to improve the areas of your life that the absence or weakness of Mercury negatively impacts. You are working to draw in more Mercurial energies into your life. 

Step 1: Pick up your candles, slowly roll them between the palms of your hands. Try to get in the mental space of a harmonious, well-planned, and smooth life. Find your inner calm. Allow this energy to permeate through your body, down to your hands, and into the candle. Feel the peace of the moment. The more energy you put into the candle, the more power you will receive from this ritual. Sit in this energetic harmony for as long as you feel comfortable. You will have an inner knowing when it is time to proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Draw the Mercury symbol on the piece of paper. Gaze at the symbol. Allow your gaze to soften and become out of focus. Breathe. This is an ancient and powerful symbol. One that assists with communication, the legal system, travel, and the fruition of goals.

Optional Step: If you have an important upcoming event or need extra assistance in a particular segment of your life that is impacted by Mercury Retrograde, write out exactly what you wish to achieve on the back of this Mercury sigil paper. You must write in a positive, present tense! 

Step 3: Place 3 Ritual Candles on top of the Mercury symbol, slowly rolling them back and forth across the image. This allows the beeswax to pick up the evoked energies of Mercury. The candles must be very warm from the friction of your hand.

Step 4: Move the Ritual Candles to the side. Dust about 1/3 teaspoon of the Mercury Retrograde Ritual Blend directly into the center of the Mercury symbol.

Step 5: Lay the three warm Ritual Candles directly on top of the herbs, firmly rolling the candles over the sigil. Some of the Ritual Blend excesses will remain on the symbol, which is perfectly fine, but the candles should be thoroughly covered in herbs.

Step 6: Gather the 3 Ritual Candles in your hand, make sure they are lined up evenly. While holding the bottom of the candles, begin to gently twist start from the top. The motion is similar to wringing out wet laundry—fists twisting in opposite directions. The bottoms (or legs) of the candles should be untwisted for the last one inch of the candles. Place on top of the Mercury symbol.

Step 7: While holding the conscious intention of attracting pristine communication, perfect travel plans, and fast-operating technology, light the candles. Sit in meditation for a moment. Mercury is now evoked. You are now drawing the energy of Mercury into your life. Feel the energy of Mercury wash over you. Allow it to empower and improve your life. 

Light your chosen smudge bundle from the flame of the candle. Allow the soft smoke to envelop you and balance your personal energies. Carefully smudge your energy field by holding the smudge bundle about 1 foot over the top of your head. Move it down to your feet, stepping into clouds of smoke. Alternatively, you may sit down and smudge the soles of your feet. 

The Ritual Candles burn 20-45 minutes, depending on the temperature in the room, any possible drafts, amount of Ritual Blend used, as well as your emitted energy. The candle will usually extinguish itself in its own pool of wax. Never leave a burning candle unattended. In the event the paper catches fire, immediately blow it out.

Step 8: Repetition

If repeating the Mercury Retrograde Ritual (as instructed in Protocol 2 and 3), the same paper can be used for the length of the retrograde. Placing the new candle on top of the previously formed pool of wax.

If possible, carry the ritual remnants with you during times when you need to make sure everything goes smoothly. You may keep in a purse, pocket, backpack, etc. Take it everywhere with you during Mercury Retrograde.

Remnant Disposal:  Once Mercury post-shadow ends, bury the ritual remnants at the base of a healthy free in your backyard, nearby park, or forest.
